Royal Berkshire Archives - Re-Use Fees

These fees are in addition to the cost of producing images or copies from the collections. 

Permission to reproduce must be obtained from the County Archivist in the first instance. Please allow sufficient time for this process as permission may be required from depositors of collections which could take time to complete, and a positive outcome is not guaranteed. 

Publication – In print, website or other media 

Per image: 

Non-profit making local societies - £5

Academic - £25

Commercial - £150

Moving image per second: 

Non-profit making local societies - £2

Academic - £10

Commercial - £20

The Archives would also expect to receive a free copy of hard copy publication for its library. 

Transcripts of documents:

Number of Words: up to 2000

Non-profit making local societies - Free

Academic - £5

Commercial - £10

Number of Words: 2001 to 10,000

Non-profit making local societies - £5

Academic - £20

Commercial - £40

Number of Words: 10,001-above

Non-profit making local societies - £20

Academic - £100

Commercial - £200

The Archives would also expect to receive a free copy of the publication for its library. 

Television, film and radio 

Re-use of still or moving images, or transcripts:

Facility Fee

£165 half day

£300 full day

Broadcast Fee

£150 half day

£300 full day

Exhibitions 

Re-use of images or transcripts is free as long as entry to the exhibition is free. 

If there is an entrance fee to the exhibition: £150 per image or transcript. 

Other commercial use 

Such as advertising, items for sale: by negotiation.
